Wall hangings are one of the sources to make our home decorative. If the walls of our home look wonderful then the complete home looks good. In our country wall hangings have been made from a long time ago. Children are very much fascinated to decorate their rooms in their own style. They are highly interested in making different decorative things by collecting exclusive pieces of distinct materials. Generally girls like to make

. Wall hangings are of various types but these two are widely famous for making walls of our home eye-catching and attractive.

Tapestry is a form of textile Art, traditionally woven on a vertical loom and it can also be woven on a floor loom as well. It is composed of two sets of interlaced threads. These threads run parallel to the length and width to make tapestry wall hangings. Threads which run parallel to length are known as warp and those which run parallel to width are known as weft. Tapestry is weft-faced weaving, in which all the warp threads are hidden in the completed work, unlike cloth weaving where both the warp and the weft threads may be visible.

For making handmade wall hangings, so many fabrics are used. Actually there is main role of fabrics while making these wall hangings. Stitching and embroideries are possible in these fabrics which can make handmade wall hangings more beautiful. In India, women are experts in different types of embroideries and designs which can be done on
handmade wall hangings

They look more natural than other types of wall hangings like designable wall hangings etc. The wall hangings which are handmade are also more expensive because they required more labor and considerations. They are also not available everywhere but some places are quite famous to make both types of wall hangings as they are rich in manufacturing them.

Some of the designs are patch work, Zari embroidery work, elephant style, tree of style, hand painted etc. You can also get simple wall hangings which do not have any type of embroideries etc. But these different types of designs are mainly used in tapestry and handmade wall hangings. Navajo Weaving in the Late Twentieth Century: Kin, Community, and Collectors $3.59 According to the Navajos, the holy people Spider Man and Spider Woman first brought the tools for weaving to the People. Over the centuries Navajo artists have used those tools to weave a web of beauty—a rich tradition that continues to the present day. In testimony to this living art form, this book presents 74 dazzling color plates of Navajo rugs and wall hangings woven between 1971 and 1996. Drawn from a private southwestern collection, they represent the work of sixty of the finest native weavers in the American Southwest. The creations depicted here reflect a number of styles—revival, sandpainting, pictorial, miniature, sampler—and a number of major regional variations, from Ganado to Teec Nos Pos. Textile authority Ann Hedlund provides an introductory narrative about the development of Navajo textile collecting—including the shift of attention from artifacts to art—and a brief review of the history of Navajo weaving.
